Can anyone tell me how to figure out the proper size for a diaphram style expansion tank for a hot water boiler. Also is the circulator pump better mounted on the supply or return side of the boiler.
I.B.R. Method as follows: Conventional type- 1gal. per. 5000 b.t.u.s Pressurized type- 1gal. per. 7000 b.t.u.s must compensate for large capacity systems. eg. 125,000 b.t.u.h. boiler, 125,000 devided 7000 = 17.86 obvious a # 15 is inadequate and a # 30 is required.Usually the return side on a basic system.
