You need to melt the lead out of the joint to remove the adapter. You do not have to clean out the bell, because you will have to lead a piece of 3 cast-iron pipe into it before you can connect the PVC. This is a job for a plumber since you do not have the lead melting tools, the running rope, nor the experience to make a horizontal lead joint.I am installing a bath in my basement and all I have to work for my toilet drain is a 3 tee with a 3 to 2 adapter off the direction I need to attach. I believe I need to cut the 2 pipe, remove the adapter and connect the new 3 PVC pipe to the belled end of the 3 tee. : I dont know how to get out the adapter, clean out the bell, or attach the PVC. Any ideas?
