The basement where the hot water heater is situated flooded covering the area where the pilot light si lit. The heater has a button to push to relight the pilot light and a dial to set to Pilot when relighting. It has been about four hours since the water level has lowered to below the pilot light. My question is this: Is it too soon to relight the light? It hasnt lit and I am trying to avoid hiring someone to fix this problem. Is it wet still, might it be lit and Im missing something? The water has not been even a little warm since trying to relight it. Thanks. Kevin

The pilot burner and main burner probably have water in them. You will have to remove both of them and shake the water out. Then it should relight properly.: The basement where the hot water heater is situated flooded covering the area where the pilot light si lit.
