Im having a new house built. There is no bathroom in the basement. The builders told me that if I someday want to put a bathroom in the basement, I should put in stub ups now. What are stub ups? Thanks, Larry.

They are the drain connections for the future fixtures. If they are put in now, you will not have to break the floor to install them at a later date, as long as you put them in the correct place.: Im having a new house built.
