What is the easiest way to seperate a cast iron joint on a 4 waste pipe with out damaging the female end. Thanks in advance for any help!

Get your helper to drill out as much of the lead and oakum as possible with a 3/8 drill and a 1/4 steel drill bit. Then when your helper has drilled out as much of the lead and oakum as he can, get him to use a lead pick or straight screwdriver to remove the rest of the lead and oakum. Then the joint should come apart easily. Oh yeah go for coffe while helper is doing this…………easiest way I know of……Lou
