I moved into a new condo in December, 1998. The toilet had a bad habit of overflowing. I called in a plumber who removed it and found that there were Q-tips stuck at the base. Problem solved right? Not quite! Since then, the toilet has overflowed twice. What happens is Ill flush the toilet, and the water level will rise and overflow. As soon as I cutoff the water supply, the bowl drains right away. If I turn the water back on… all is fine. Until the next random overflow! Its important to note that on a fairly regular basis, the rubber valve in the tank doesnt fully close. Im forced to tap the lever to re-close it before the water stops flowing. Im at a complete loss. This problem is intermittent and causes quite a bit of anxiety. I have a plumber coming tomorrow (Saturday, May but I would like to have some ideas as to what could be causing this. My toilet is a brand Ive never heard of… ELJER. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks… Pierre
