After installing a new submersible pump, I noticed that the pump would cycle on-off while the lawn sprinklers were running. So I decided to increase the shut-off pressure so that would not happen. (I actually wanted better pressure in the house also.) There are 2 springs on the Square D control switch, 1 large, 1 small. I cranked the large one down a bit and got more pressure at the faucet but now the pump comes on with less than a gallon of draw from the faucet. There is also the pressure tank charge that I may have to fiddle with. Any advice?

you give little information to work with, but I can tell you the pressure tank charge should be 2lbs. less then your cut in pressure.

I read on the side of the tank that it was precharged to 30 psi, I want more. Can I turn off the pump, let the system drain down, then use a tire pressure gauge and compressor to set the precharge to 35-40 psi? Can I then use trial and error with the tire gauge on the tank air valve to set the Square D pressure control switch? The original pressure gauge is stuck at 50 psi.
