Is there any code to be concerned with in connecting building fire sprinklers with the landscape irrigation system?

The biggest reason the city might not appreciate it being done is that the fire system is not usually metered except for the sidearm leak detector meter, which is seldom read or billed. So an irrigation sytem connected to it would be stealing the water.: Is there any code to be concerned with in connecting building fire sprinklers with the landscape irrigation system?
