If it is an electric water heater, you may have to replace the anode rod. The anode rod is installed by the factory to extend the life of the metal holding tank. Ive seen cases where the rod had to be removed, which of course im sure voids any remaining warranty.
: Smell in hot water. what do I do besides flushing out hot waterAre you on City water or well water? Depending on the chemicals in the water what this solution can be. Some times when excessive chlorine is added and heater it can cause a smell same with most of the imputies found in well water. Try flushing this water for a while and see if that helps Other wise you may have to install a filter prior to water entering this H/W tank good Luck..
