Hi. About a week ago, a piece of plastic accidentally got down the drain and into the garbage disposal unit. Since, I didnt know it was in there, I turned the disposal on and it got jammed in there really tight. (I later pulled out the other half of the piece of plastic so I know exactly what is stuck in there.) Is there any way to get it un-stuck without calling a plumber over or taking the whole thing apart? There is power going to the unit because you can hear it try to start when you flip the switch, but nothing happens. I have used the big allen wrench to turn the bottom of the unit, but now it is jammed so tightly that I cant even turn it at all now. Help, please. Thanks.

Use the allen wrench and pull it hard back and forth until it frees up. Then remove the other piece from the disposer. If it cannot be loosened, the cost of disassembling it to remove the item, assuming it can then be reassembled, which is not always the case), may be more than installing a new unit.: Hi. Hi, today my wife dropped a spoon in the garbage disposal inlet. She pulled it out without starting the unit but it will not start. All we hear is the motor trying to run, (humming noise), but it will not start. Can you help me to figure out to solve this problem?
