I have a Hoyt gas hot water heater about 13 years old. It has started making a weird gurgling, light pounding, or a possible boiling noise, when the gas heater is on to warm the water. I drained it to no avail. Could it be not completely full of water. How can I check the water level. Maybe its some other problem. Any ideas?????
Sounds like dirt at the bottom of the tank that has hardened and that rumbling noise is the material ‘popping’ at when the heat is on.
No real way to get that problem resolved given the age of the heater, especially if you did not drain that water heater once a year on a regular basis.
