I’m having an issue with my toilet, when I flush it, nothing happens. The valve goes up like it’s going to flush, but no water drains from the tank, and the contents of the bowl go nowhere.

I have to fill a bucket up to get the bowl to flush. This happened out of nowhere in the middle of the night last night.

Can anyone advise what the issue might be?

        Thanks!

If you have a mansfield type flush valve on the inside of your commode check to see the handle has either broken or slipped out of the stirrup/eye, if you have a flush vavle type check the chain and make sure the flapper is connected to the handle. If something has broken goto your local plumbing supply and get a Fluidmaster Rebuild Kit. And rebuild the entire tank.PLMBWizardz2008-08-04 02:25:24

Thanks for the reply. However, the tank mechanisms are operating just fine. The handle, chain, everything is operating normally.

When the flapper lifts up, the water just barely trickles out the tank into the bowl.

Have you or your wife used tank drop-in in the past or present. It sounds as if the “jets” of the commode are clogged. Tank drop-ins void a warranty on a commode due to the fact they clog the rim jets of a commode. If your rim jets are clogged you can only buy another commode and remember never put anything in the tank of a commode but Fluidmasters tank cleaning products which most commode manufacturers have approved for tank use.
