We have water coming up in our basement/garage. We have also run hose water between our house and the neighbours on the upside of the hill and after 15 minutes we had water in our garage again. Obviously we need to redirect this water as in the case of heavy rain we have a clean up job in our garage. The question is..do we run an Aggie drain or trench drain between our houses to catch the water before it finds its way to our property? Are there any other types of drain to consider also? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
There are all kinds of drains. Go to your local Plumbing supply and they should have some. You got storn drains like they use in streets and parks, you will have to pipe the water some place, you cant run it into sanitary sewer so you have to run it out to the open area, make sure you use at least 6″ pipe, let me know, you can find drains on the net.
Might be worth it to make a drainage ditch between your house and the hill, with a decent grade, and install a drainage pipe directing water flow to an area away from your house.
Thanks for the replies. We have started a trench for an aggie drain and the results even without the pipe in place have been encouraging.( fingers crossed) Giving the water somewhere to go is obviously the best cure. The seepage will no doubt be sorted once the pipe and aggie go in. Any further advice would be well appreciated. Cheers.
