My bathtub drain will not stay open. I have to put a wet wash cloth over the lever and the weight makes it stay open. It’s the kind of drain you can’t see it’s in the drain line with a toggle lever to open and close it. How can I get it to stay open withour a wet wash cloth over it.

Go to this site and see picture. Sounds like the rods inside are broken or need ajustment. Where handle is that is the overflow take 2 screws out and pull the works out and see.
