I am installing a .5 hp ejector pump system in a basement. I would like to connect this to a 2″ waste line that services the kitchen sink/dishwasher from the floor above. The ejector pump waste line connection is made with a 2″ y-connection. The problem is that it appears that the large volume of flow from the ejector pump causes the sink to overflow above (even though the y-connection is done such that the flow is directed away from the sink towards the main sewage line). Would a check value on the sink/dishwasher just prior to connecting to the waste line of the sewage pump fix the problem or do a need a completely seperate waste line for the ejector pump all the way to the 4″ waste line?
If there is a blockage down stream in the 2” line you are pumping into, it would force the water up to the sink. If the blockage is down stream in the 4” line, moving the connection to the 4” line will not work and cause the same problem. It would be better to get the 2” line off the pump to the 4” line and away from the sink. A check valve will not work.
