I have a problem w/an emergency drain (not the regular drain) for a washer (second floor of a condo). There is no trap (not required) and the drain is not clogged (whish it was!). Air flows up the drain and brings with it a terrible odor. I can’t get a clear answer on where it drains.
Should I pay to have a trap installed?
Should I just have it cleaned?
        Any help appreciated!

It might run down to a floor drain below. It could be an indirect drain running into a untraped drain, put a trap in the line.

perhaps you do have a trap and it has dried out from evaporation. pour a liter or two of water down the drain. good luck.
