I have a very strong mildew/mold smell coming from my tub drain. The tub drains slowly, so it may be that something is clogging it and causing the smell. However, I have a Hydroblast septic system and would like to know if it’s safe to pour bleach down the drain. Additionally, what is safe to remove clogs from septic lines? Two things to consider are that 1) I have cast iron drains and 2) the plumbing in the house is 40 years old. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Call a decent plumbing contractor and have them water jet these lines with hot water
(Below 160 degrees F.)
Using bleach is great for killing mildew and mold BUT it may kill the good bacteria like anaerobic germs that some of these systems depend upon to break down solid waste.
Water Jetting will scrub these lines to a like new condition ESPECIALLY Cast Iron.
Cast Iron pipe is the best of the best for waste piping in the majority of applications.
Water Jetting is safe and no harmful chemicals are used.
