How can I vent my bar sinks? I have a bar with 12 seperate Drains with traps. The drains are for ice bins, sinks and glass drying racks. The drains are all interconnected and then run down into the basement. I have a problem with gas coming up when the sinks are emptied. This is because there is no vent. It would be hard to run a vent straight up to the roof because the bar is in the middle of the room. One side of the bar attachs to an outside wall however. Is it possible to run a vent sideways through this wall?

Why would anyone direct connect a bar sink to the waste system? I think you should check your local codes and look up “indirect wastes”

By running an indirect waste to a vented and trapped fixture this would alleviate your venting problem IF you follow local codes and take the developed length and fixture units connected.

Most health departments frown about “bar sinks” connecting to a possible source of contamination of glasses and food utensils.

Oh well Another case for calling in a Licensed Master Plumber.
