Recently I am having to dial up the control to get adequate hot water. We are now at the top. The plumber who installed this 40-gal unit 3 years ago has retired, and the new plumber sugggests we wait until it’s broken, since the gas and water lines, and vent all seem fine. Has anyone else had trouble with these units? Suggestions? Is it the burner?

In order to assit you further I need to know is this problem you are experiencing first thing in the morning or is it at all times during the day and, is the capacity of the cylinder adequate for your water usage.
I am asking in fact is the problem a temperature one or a volume of hot water one – if it is the latter the only cure is a bigger capacity cylinder.
Let me know what you response is so I can assist you further on this issue.

Thanks for the reply, Peter. This is not a capacity issue–with only two of us in the house, we should be able to get at least one hot shower, and ideally two out of a 40 gallon model. The issue is that the temperature of the water has been falling off drastically in the past couple of weeks.
I called the manufacturer yesterday, and they are sending out a new thermostat, and a new “dipstick” whatever that is. I’ll have my plumber install those, and see if it fixes the problem. They didn’t hesitate. Great customer service![img]null[/img]
