Boilers do not just break down (not in modern country’s any how)
Many of the residential and commercial boilers I service and inspect are over 60 years old steam boilers don’t normally last as long as hot water boilers but still one should expect at least 40 years out of a properly manufactured and serviced system.
When you say “break down” what exactly is going on?
Did you allow a dry fire condition?
What training did your boiler installer possess?
What type of fuel are you using?
What type of burner?
