        There are three things at the front of my gas fire. One seems to be the igniter, the other is
        where the gas supply comes from for the pilot light, but what is the other for? Help!

          Very sketchy info without the model number and serial number of the devices. It may be the flame sensor.

            Jason,
            Sounds like it could be a thermocouple or thermopile this is a saftey device and should not be played with (used to stop the flow of gas if the flame goes out)
