Hi, I have noticed that when I’m not using any water in the home I here vibrations like water hammer comming from my pipes. I live in a unit complex and have checked the noise by turning on and off quickly my next door neighbours front water tap and the vibration occurs through my water pipes. I also hear faint rumbles of the pipes frequently, this might be next door or further up in the complex. How do I diagnose whats going on and fix the problem on my end? And why is it that I’m the only one who gets the hammering. P.S My unit is located at the bottom of the complex.

Did you check your toilets and see if flapper is not leaking in toilet. Put a little egg dye in tank and see if it leaks through the flapper, if so replace. Let me know.

Sometimes when flapper leaks it causes toilet to refill and it sometimes viabrates.

Thanks for the replies, but I think it might be something else, the toilet is brand new and this only started happenning a month or so ago.
