Today I tried to get hot water to flow out of the tub faucet in my guest bathroom. Cold water flows fine, but when I turn the lever to hot, it nearly shuts off. The water never gets very hot either. What would cause this restriction of flow for hot water only? How can it be fixed?
I have a Moen single lever faucet that rotates counter-clockwise to turn on. The more counter-clockwise you turn the lever, the hotter the water should get.

What is the carthrage, because I’m having kind of the same problem. When I turm the level to the hot side in my master bath, it reduces the flow, but in the other bathroom the flow is strong. What came cause this to happen?

This is a very common problem encountered by many people.Most shower or tub faucets come with a built-in anti-scalding device.In most faucets,this device could be a small rod or ball which moves from left to right regulating water pressure and the hot/cold mechanism.
This device probably has debris collected inside preventing it from balancing the pressure and hot/cold water demands.Cleaning it will help.If this does not help,try removing the handle of the device,you will find a plastic ring which you will have to re-install.
It is better if you can get the help of a professional plumbing service.

If you are getting low hot water pressure in tub faucet, the it would be a good idea to flush the cold side while the faucet is apart. Reassemble the faucet and turn the water on.

we replaced the seats and springs and no luck. Ordered a new ball so will try again once that comes. The old one is clean and looks in good shape – didn’t see how this ball could wear out. Appreciate your reply and will let you know…

As per my knowledge, this is a common problem with tub faucets, which can be easily resolved by taking help of professional plumbers.
