Our old regulator generated a pressure reading of 90# no matter where the adjustment screw was set. I replaced it with a new pressure regulator; and set it so that i got a reading of 60# just passed the regulator and in the back yard as well. My question is that there seems to be an increase in water pressure now with the new regulator (showers, hoses, etc). Does that make sense, or should i buy a new tester and check again?

Maybe the old one was not doing its job letting water in and the new one lets the true amount of water in, kind of hard to say about those valves, your water pipe is a closed system and when WH fires up it puts presss. in system and your guage will raise up.
