We are refinishing our hardwood floors and would like to remove our old circulating Hot Water Cast Iron Radiators in order to sand under & behind them. How do you go about temporarily moving them while we do the floors?
You need to drain the system by shutting the valve to the automatic fill valve (pressure reducing valve, opening and draining from a valve at the bottom of the system, and opening the highest radiator valve. Then you disconnect and move the radiators when they are empty. To return them to service, you reverse the procedure.
Hire a professional,it will be the best value for the money,ie carrying them out & re installing them. You don’t want damage to newly finished floors,or damage to your heating system,or the rads themselves.
