I am trying to write a proposal to harvest water from the roofs of our elementary school. We probably could use plastic tanks but they are susceptible to vandalism. Steel tanks are too expensive. I am exploring the idea of using approx. 6′ diameter concrete sewer pipes positioned vertically on a concrete pad. Water from the concrete cisterns would feed a drip irrigation system for ornamental gardens and trees. The outflow from the tank would be a 4″ pipe integrated into the concrete base.
My questions to you are:
Do you know if this idea has been implemented on a commercial basis. Are there any design specifications for a water harvesting system based on this design.
Do you have any information on a design like this?
