We bought a cabin and we want to put a washing machine in, however, in the winter the pipes are drained and the electric is turned off. What should we do to winterize our washer?

If you can get to the back of the washer where the pump is and can remove the hose to make sure all the water is out of the machine; then the temperature won’t be a problem about freezing. If not some propylene glycol (non-toxic) can be purchased and poured into the machine drain to prevent freeze damage.

1. Disconnect both supply hoses and blow thru them with compressed air. Washer must be on and calling for warm water. This step will remove water from sill valve assembly.
2. Put washer into spin cycle to remove excess water. Add approx 1/2 gallon of non toxic anti freeze directly into tup of washer. Again put into spin cycle. This step will fill pump assembly with anti-freeze.
