I’m a fulltime RVer. By that I mean I live in my RV and work from the road. I have 3 kids and a wife. We have to stagger showers in 45 minute intervals (due to the lack of hot water). The wife can’t really take a good shower. I currently have a 10 gallon elect/propane hot water heater. I want to replace it with a tankless hot water system. Any recommendations from the professionals? Is there a system that is a combo Elec/Propane? Do I have to remove my current hot water heater? I’m remote, often times without the electric hookup as a option so having the propane use is good but most times we’re in a park with electricity. I can be emailed at [email protected]. Thanks

To heat water without a storage tank requires one of two things or a mix of the two. Either the water flow has to be reduced to the point that the burner can heat it as it goes through the heater, or the heater must have a large burner (and increased gas consumption), (and flue vent) so tht it can keep up with the demand. Usually the burner size is increased somewhat and the flow is also reduced. To the extent that these two items are balanced, will determine whether you would be happy with it and whether it would work in your situation. An electric unit requires a massive amperage load that a temporary hookup could not even begin to supply.
