My enlarged bathroom will have drain pipes going across the kitchen ceiling. How can I make drainage as quiet as possible? Is it better to use cast iron? Connie

By all means- if the budget allows, cast iron is much quieter. In any case, fully insulate the cavity that the pipe runs thru. There is also sound deadening board that goes under sheetrock if kitchen ceiling is down.
