Help!! Our hot water heater is only two years old, but we had a ton of hard water deposits in the bottom of it. We tried to scrape a bunch of it out, successfully, but the next day we had a new problem…it began to leak! Is there a possibility that we damaged the tank somehow? The water is a slow stream from the base and appears to be rusty. Any info would help! Thanks, Holly

Yes Holly you probebley damaged the unit. Your problem is not unique in areas that have hard water sediments build up very quickly when water is heated up then stored. You should consider utilizing a tankless hot water heater. A good unit to look into would be the Takagi TK1 You can find information about it on the
web Comtec Distributing sells these units. You can reach them at 1-800-795-5925

If the tank is only two years old, contact the manufacturer or a local service company for that brand. It is guaranteed for 5 or 6 years and they will replace the tank charging just for the labor and related materials.
