Before going on vacation, I shut off the water at the main valve and can not turn it back on. The handle on my honeywell braukmann water shutoff valve is locked in place at a 90 degree angle to the water pipe and I don’t want to put too much pressure on it or I think it may break off. Is there a spring or something that is locking the valve in place? Does anyone have any suggestions how to get the handle to budge so I can turn the water back on?

I never saw one before but looked it up in Google and they said something about openning a vent to releve press. if it dont work they said it needs overhaul. Let me know. You might try to go to http://www.google.com and get # off vale and they mught give you some info.

I gave up and had a plumber come over. He freed up the water shutoff valve handle and I was able to turn the water back on.
