All of the radiators in my steam by gas heating system work fine except for one. The “on/off knob” is turned all the way counter-clockwise, as they are on all of the other radiators. I can feel the heat coming thru the pipes to the bottom of the knob, but the radiator itself stays cold. I am familiar with “bleeding” hot water systems, as my old house had them. Is there a similar fix with steam heat?
Somewhat. The air vent on the end of the radiator opposite the valve, acts as a bleeder, except that it operates every time the heat comes on. In your case, it is defective and cannot evacuate the air, so the steam cannot enter the radiator. Replace the vent.
