I just put hot and cold water to a basement bathroom using PVC. (Yes, I admit to being a rank amateur! Still learning!) Now I found an article on the internet saying never use PVC for hot water. How much trouble am I in? Do I need to rip out drywall and replace all the hot water PVC piping? It seems to be functioning ok
Yes you need to replace the PVC hot water piping. If you want to use plastic pipe you should use CPVC. Don’t think you will save much money though, the pipe costs less but the fittings cost more (some MUCH more). Before you start again you should get more info on how and where you can use plastic pipe.
